Be Pink Proud™ Program
Sadly, too many of us have been touched by cancer. At Charles River Apparel, we are committed to supporting those who who are battling this disease.
In 2006, Susan (Lipsett) de Vries, daughter of Charles River Apparel founder, Walter Lipsett, and sister of President and CEO, Barry Lipsett, lost her five year battle with breast cancer at age forty-four. Sue worked for many years at Charles River Apparel as Sales Manager and ran the Company’s original showroom in New York City. Since her passing, the company has taken a special interest in supporting organizations that help those with cancer. In 2008, Charles River Apparel formed the Be Pink Proud™ program to advocate for this cause. Through the Be Pink Proud™ program, Charles River Apparel donates a portion of the sales from our pink styles to a variety of nonprofit cancer support organizations.
Very sadly, in 2009, the Lipsett Family suffered another loss to cancer, Walter's beloved wife and Barry's loving mother, Ellie. Our Charles River Apparel family also deeply misses valued employees Bob Berg and Jimmy Stewart, who also passed away from cancer. These tragedies further the company’s drive to help those with this devastating disease.
The Be Pink Proud™ program supports a variety of nonprofit cancer support organizations including:
